.: your salvation :.

Your salvation, what's the big deal?

Have you ever wondered why God sent His Son so long ago? And if He sent His Son then is it important that I ask Him into my heart today?

Scholars believe God sent His Son so long ago because language and trade routes had grown enough to take the message of the Cross to the lost world.

The Hellenistic period (323-31 BC) brought stability to the region, when Egypt, Syria and Mesopotamia grew and sought to trade with each other. The language had to adapt so all three kingdoms could communicate. Trade routes went all over the Middle East to get spices and set up markets to sell the items that were begged, bought, borrowed, or stolen.

Towards the end of this time the Romans were taking over the known world and put armies on those established trade routes to keep order. This was the first time in history that the language and trade routes were protected long enough to grow that complex.

The result was a perfect time and place to send the Son of God to suffer and die on the Cross for our sins. God allowed sin to take His Son to the Cross so that He could forgive us. He also allowed it at a time in history that the story of the Gospel could be taken to the world.

Can you imagine if God had sent His Son to a less complex people? Let's say He sent Him to the cannibals in Africa, or the Barbarians in Asia at a time when violence was the law and Justice was a farce. History from these cultures at that time has holes and we have to use conjecture to fill the gaps.

God sent Jesus to a time and place that could communicate what happened clearly enough that it could be taken to the rest of the world. Twelve handpicked people (who also gave their lives) took the Gospel from that place and time to you and I, NOW.

To this time and place so that you will not have to spend an eternity in Hell a place eternally separated from God's love. Hell is real and we all have to repent and ask Jesus into our hearts so we can claim His forgiveness instead of falling under condemnation.

Forgiveness changes our legal status before God, Romans 3:23 says "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God", after our regeneration at salvation we are new creations and all the old is passed away and the NEW is in Jesus name (2 Corinthians 5:17). God has adopted us as His own children, through Jesus' sacrifice.

Just saying the prayer and having a feeling isn't enough. We need to live the life that Jesus lived, a holy life. That doesn't mean we have to be perfect, it means we have to be repentant, repentant to the point of CHANGE that means that other people know as soon as you talk that you are a different person, a New Creation.
